what should you eat before working out?
Having a snack before exercising can help keep your energy levels up throughout your sweat session—but not all grub is created equal! Read on to find out which foods will keep you performing at your best!
You’ve laced up your sneakers and cued your iPod to your favorite workout mix, but there’s still one thing you need to do before you exercise: Fuel up! “These tasty snacks can give you the energy and endurance you need to work out even harder and longer,” says Bonnie Taub-Dix, R.D., author of Read it Before You Eat It!. Have one—along with 16 ounces of water—about a half hour before you decide to start moving.
Veggies and Hummus Dipping sliced cucumbers or carrots into hummus—which is made from heart-healthy chickpeas—makes them a lot yummier and fun to eat! And now that companies like Sabra make single serve packets, it’s even easier to toss this in your gym bag in the morning. Not a hummus fan? Substitute Greek yogurt for an equally healthy, calcium- and protein-rich snack.
